Spring in the high desert of Magical Morongo is a wonderful thing to hear!
How i wish i could record and replay for all of you to hear, all the beautiful spring bird songs i hear. The sound of spring is sweet! The sweetest songbirds sing their mating songs early early here, in the high desert, up in these dry seemingly barren leeward California hills.
Today a different bird song sound!
A high wuuuuah, wuaaaah
The song of the ancient quail yes, the same silly and endearing cartoon character that blows his little forehead tassel upwards, and runs really fast everywhere (they do fly)
But this is the real deal
and what a brave and romantic heart he is
I saw him jump to the top of this very high rock
and from there wuaaaah out his mating call.
Tirelessly again and again, calling out finally
reward by a returning call of the same nature higher up and deeper in the canyon
and there he goes, pulled by natures spring love call
jumping off the rock and running and stopping to pluck a seed on the green grass, on his way toward her.
